Calendar: We are reviewing counting to 100. We are also practicing counting by 2s to 20, 5s to 30, and 10s to 100. Please keep practicing at home.

Shared Reading: Our poem this week in "One, Two, Buckle My Shoe." We are practicing reading with fluency by touching each word only one time. We will be finding sight words and rhyming words in the poem.

Haggerty (phonics drills): Our drills this week focus on breaking apart words and blending words orally.

Word Study: We are learning about the -ot word family and beginning our learning of the short o sound. We have 5 sight words this week.  (come, look, little, can, to)

Reading in Motion: Students are rotating through 1 rotation each day and I am testing for the middle of the year benchmark in the Dibels/TRC test. I will send home results when all testing is complete.

Reading: We are focusing reading stories that are nonfiction (not real). Students are learning what makes a book nonfiction. Students will also be thinking about what they are learning from nonfiction books and what they are still wondering. We are also focusing on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Math: We are continuing to learn how to subtract and use math words while subtracting.

Reading Workshop: We are continuing to learn about our reading super powers! We are reviewing all of the super powers and how to use them.

Writing Workshop: We are continuing to learn that writers write books that teach people how to do something. Students are thinking about what they are good at and then they we start to right instructions on how to do what they are good at. (for example, How to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, how to ride a bike)
